When he had linished his speech two young ladies presented to Mr. Joseph's hand some boquets -of Mowers.

This town never before had such a throng of visitors and no convent ion ever received a more cordial welcome. There must be near i00 visitors in town. The Kio iraihle hotel, which is headquarters for newspaper men as well as other prominent people, has more than 2(K) guests and it seems that almost every private residence has been temporarily jtiirncd into cana-vansaiy. And everything in town seems free, except eating and drinking. Thompson, the fugitive cashier of the defunct First National bank, who is now in the City of The mayor said Thompson had lost 40 pounds since he left Sedalia and is wearing the same suit of clothes ho wore when he left here on May 4 last. He has lived in the simplest way possible and has no kind of employment nor has he any in view, The attorney gave out Jhe impressioD that Thompson was financially embarrassed and, that his living expenses were paid by friends whom he had helped, in the past. The negroes, who are sentenced to the penitentiary for eight, three and nine years respectively, called the jailer to the corridor where they were" ilnd when he was ready to retire, and while in the act of locking one of the doors ho was attacked by the negroes. It was while ho was being cholted that he drew a dirk and stabbed Garrett between the ninth and tenth ribs and Pearson in the loft armpit and under the right knee. Then the friends of another candidate, in order to prevent a report last night moved an adjournment till this morning, in favor of the seductive waltz.

The report of the committee this morning, which was adopted, showed that Judge i'all and his followers had won a victory; That report recommended the selection of the following oflieers: II. L. Warren, of llernalillo, president; Luciana Chaves, of Socorro, and Demetro Chaves, of 'Dona Anna, vice presidents; James O. Eddy.aud A. 1'.

Hill, of Santa Fe, -secretaries. A committee consisting of Felix W. T. Hull and Colonel Parker, was appointed to escort the new chairman to the platform, where ho was gracefully introduced by ilr. Martinez.

Chairman Warren, in accepting Lho honor conferred upon him, delivered himself of an address that was without doubt one ot the ablest speeches ot the kind ever listened to by this reporter. It was thoughtful, bold, effective, and appreciated, as was shown the repeated continued applause.
